U.S. Strikes Iran as Regional Crisis Deepens, Raising Fears of a Wider Middle East Conflict

The Middle East lurched into a dangerous new phase overnight after the United States launched a sweeping wave of airstrikes against strategic targets inside Iran, dramatically escalating tensions and fueling fears that the region may be edging toward a broader military confrontation.

Speaking from the Oval Office, President Trump argued that Iran had nearly accepted a diplomatic agreement before abandoning negotiations at the final moment. He claimed Tehran withdrew after discovering provisions within the proposed arrangement that it ultimately refused to accept.
